Pakistan Floods!

Pakistan is facing one of the worst natural calamities of its history. These are the worst floods in the past 80 years. As per UN estimates almost 1600 people have lost their lives and other approximately 12 millions are the affected. Roads have washed away, bridges are broken and millions are left stranded under the bare sky without any food or supplies. To add to that many diseases specially cholera has broken out among the survivors. The following image search would give you a good idea of devastation and life loss:

CHEER:
They have earlier worked for IDPs and have accounts available for every one to see:

Umar Qureshi and a few friends are setting up a non-profit organization called CHEER (Center for Health Education & Economic Relief). They are in the process of registering NPO (currently in process for Canada) and might also register it in Pakistan later on, so that the donors can quote their donations for tax returns as well..

CHEER is preparing to launch a campaign to aid the victims of the floods. Your support is crucial. Give your Zakat or general Charity to CHEER, and we will designate it where its most needed. Please contact Ahmed Nizami – 647 985 5743 (Canada) or Umer Quershi (Pakistan) - Mobile: +923443062789. Or you can email us at ahmed.nizami@gmail.com or m.umer.q@gmail.com

Center for Health, Education & Economic Relief (CHEER) is launching an emergency campaign to aid the more than 400,000 victims of flashfloods and landslides in northwest Pakistan.
Hundreds of homes and thousands of acres of farmland were destroyed in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, uprooting entire communities and isolating victims. Many of them have nowhere to go.

At least 400 people are dead with the toll steadily climbing.
The floods are sweeping away homes and forcing people to make the dangerous trek into the highlands. Landslides are burying entire villages and making it dangerous for people to move.

“There were no boats, so we had to use our beds or inflate tubes to float to safer places. We have not received any help. There is no food and no water,” Ghani Mohammad told reporters in Charsadda, one of the worst-affected districts.

Confusion and desperation are spreading amongst the victims as conditions worsen and supplies dwindle.
