Six Weeks of Corporate World!

by

Mohsin Zameer

"Mohsin, are you planning an internship this summer", yes was my reply. "Nice, but do u have any idea whatsoever you will be doing there." NO! dude. "You will be treated as paid or may be unpaid servant, photocopier man, useless employee and degraded idiot professional". This was the weirdest response about internship I got from my friend few days before it started. The affect was also backed and enlarged by different words of mouth from other sides. So, before I started, I had made this impression of internship in my mind that it's like a military rough mud-filled training that a future soldier has to experience in order to complete the military requirements.

This was my learning internship, by learning internship I mean that one does spend his time in some organization just for the sake of learning, not to meet the degree requirement criteria of having one internship, most likely in your 3rd year, during an under-graduation program.

Finally I gathered all my will to say this to me that fine DUDE let me experience this part of life, definitely it would be a great experience. The main reason of this inner satisfaction was this that I had heard a good name and responses about the organization and its culture before I witnessed it on my own.

Here comes the first day of internship, I went to the office early in the morning as I wanted to be punctual and for this, I had to set alarm not only in my mobile but also in table clock, along with this dedication I had told everyone in the family to awake me early in the morning. hmm... Deciding what to wear was also a point of discussion between me and my family.

Reaching the office, meeting the person who interviewed me was a nice. I was sent to my desk, waited some time for computer installation and finally ready to perform any task that was to be given. I really enjoyed different kinds of assignments that were given to me, some of them were difficult as they took even a day or more. Meeting different people, asking them about their work, telling them about myself was a normal practice. It is may be due to the fact that being a new face anywhere calls your repeatedly telecasting of your basic information time after time.

Soon I developed good understanding with many employees there and started enjoying office life and activities as I didn't hesitate to sit longer if there was any work, coming to office in hard days (includes extreme rain falls and shutter down strikes) and ready to work over any assignment. Working with the company on the on-field projects was also interesting and dynamic task that it daily called for corporate lunch...Hmm. May be this whole enthusiasm is just because of the fact that I had met those employers who care for their employees, those seniors who respect their juniors and most importantly learning, and knowledge matters from wherever it comes.

Today at my 42nd day (last day of six week internship) I am gathering compliments, love from them and remembering all those moments that I had spent within last 42 days. These memories shall surely be with me through out my life. Life has quite changed at my side, learned several things and understood a lesson that at the end of the day honesty, dedication, loyalty and character lasts no matter what circumstances and conditions one has at a specific time.

Independence Day Celebrations!

Though this year is very sad in terms of disasters that has struck our country and countrymen, yet still we have much to celebrate and be thankful for. Every year on 14th August, we wear flag badges, adorn our houses with jhandis, adorn our buildings with lights and sing national songs. This year, however let us add to that and promise to change ourselves and our society for the better. Please use this thread to post all the things that you will from now on promise to do yourself and wish that every Pakistani did too. Also, if you have any message that you would like to give your fellow Pakistanis, please feel free to utilize this thread.

Messages from fellow Systemers:

I am Shaheen Ahmed Khan and I want to say...

When I meet ambitious people, following their dreams,
When I find happy faces around me, enjoying every moment of life,
When I see innocent children playing and making us laugh,
When I feel the warmth of my new born nephew,
Then I realize, how beautiful life is!

I want to live it, infact...we ALL want to live it!

However, the fear of bomb blasts and riots in my beloved country, cause me to ask myself, every morning when I leave home, that, will I be able to see my loved ones again? I request those people and their favorers, who think that they have the right to take people’s lives , please let us follow our dreams, please allow us to be happy, please allow our children to play and grow in a fear free environment, please live and let others live!

As life is meaningful and beautiful
!

A very happy Independence Day to all!

May it bring independence from fear too.

I am Yasir Siddiqui and I want to say...

We are one nation, We should not break ourself by different languages, sects and casts. Make this country what it had been dreamt as. Live and Let Live! Geo Pakistan!

I am Danish Mustafa and I want to say...

Watan Say Hum Hain, Watan Hai Hum Say, Khayal Rakhna
Chaloo Mila Kar Kadam Kadam Say, Khayal Rakhna

Let me start with quoting Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s first few sentences of his speech delivered on August 15, 1947 delivered to Pakistani nation,

“It is with feelings of greatest happiness and emotion that I send you my greetings. August 15 is the birthday of the independent and sovereign State of Pakistan. It marks the fulfillment of the destiny of the Muslim nation which made great sacrifices in the past few years to have its homeland.

At this supreme moment my thoughts are with those valiant fighters in our cause. Pakistan will remain grateful to them and cherish the memory of those who are no more.

The creation of the new State has placed a tremendous responsibility on the citizens of Pakistan. It gives them an opportunity to demonstrate to the world how can a nation, containing many elements, live in peace and amity and work for the betterment of all its citizens, irrespective of caste or creed.

Dear Pakistanis,

Let me use this opportunity to congratulate you on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the Independence Day of Pakistan.

14th August is here again, the day we got independence, independence to make our own decisions, independence to live our lives as we want to, independence to prosper, independence to rise as the greatest nation.

14th august is the day to reiterate the promise that we made to our home land to do our best to serve Pakistan and its people. This day demands us to think what we did for our nation and what we can do. We as nation and as individual have the responsibility to work for the betterment of Pakistan and Pakistanis. As rightly said by Quaid-e-Azam, Pakistan and Pakistanis have lots of potential and resources to be a great nation and prosper.

On this occasion of celebration, we are in real trouble as whole Pakistan is in real catastrophic conditions; Flood around the country has claimed hundreds of lives and leaving millions of our people homeless. As per statement issued by United Nations, The flood in Pakistan has affected more people than Indian Ocean Tsunami did in 2004.

This testing time demand us to stand up and show the world that we are an independent nation, we are a brave nation who can fight the problems and emerge as a winner, it is the time to help our own brother and sister.

What the time demanding us is recognizing our responsibilities towards this great nation, we need to think what we have and what we can do. What I think WE as a nation lack awareness, and awareness comes from the people who think and strive for betterment. We struggle very hard to earn independence; we have not got it in charity. When we started in 1947 we have vision and a direction, somehow it is lost and we are derailed from the track. It is the time to regroup and take up that vision and direction and we have this responsibility. Let’s play our part; we have many areas to work on like Education, Health, Social Awareness, and research sciences. Let’s get together to put up some ideas for Pakistan and people of Pakistan.

Helping people by giving away charitable do not have any impact, it makes them beggars. Help them in a way so that they don’t need help for the next time should be our Moto.

HELP to make HELPING HANDS!

Let me end with...

Ye zameen muqaddas hai, maan ke pyar kee soorat,
Iss chaman mein tum sab ho, barq-o-bar kee soorat,
Dekhna gawana mut,
Dolat-e-yaqeen logon,
Ye watan amanat hai, aur tum ameen logon.

I am Danish Ali and I just want to say...

Do not just Point Out the Mistake, but try to Correct the Mistake!

I am Musharraf Amir and I want to suggest that...

We should focus on seeking Allah’s forgiveness so that we might receive His mercy. With all our help and troubleshooting efforts, we should also be seeking forgiveness as Allah says, “Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?’” [An-Naml: 46]
I want to share following thoughts..

This is the day,
That Our nation sings
This is the day
That the liberty bell starts to ring
This is the day
We all start to remember
What We stand for
And to celebrate our Independence
We stand up high, as We
All start to cry
As we think about,
All that died
For you, for me, for our whole country
Risking their life
Each & everyday here is a salute
To all that lay ...

Happy Independence Day! :)

I am Muhammad Ali Khan and my message is....

We should be united, have faith and be disciplined in order to help our fellow Pakistanis & to raise the morale of our beloved homeland,…….. Pakistan Zindabaad!!!

I am Nasreen Shehzad and I want to say..

Be Pakistani, Buy Pakistani and Be proud to be a Pakistani. It is our land and our sole identity, we can get lavish and comfortable life somewhere abroad but we can never have the feeling of pride and this is the major difference between ‘pardes’ and ‘apna des’ so we should all be proud of our nation and should step forward to help our fellow men especially the flood victims. Please come forward and play your part. God Bless us all!

I am Sabiha Essa Khan and I am proud to be a Pakistani….

My message for my Countrymen…

Our country is going through testing times; times which are perhaps as grave as was witnessed by our forefathers in 1947. All we can see today is terrorism, lawlessness, inflation, joblessness and natural calamities; at times it does feel that our death angel is doing some sort of overtime in our sacred land of Pakistan. No doubt, we are in trouble but there is one source which everyday keeps us moving and progressing in our own ways of life and that’s HOPE. As they say, Hope sustains the world, its actually sustaining us, and the millions of our brothers and sisters who are on the ground facing and fighting the battle of life. Lets carry forward this spirit of hope and bring light of love, compassion, togetherness and peace in the lives of each other…lets not just talk, but act in some positive ways to see what we complaint for and miss around us…. lets join hands to do whatever we can to make this land what it truly deserves to be…let us try to spread this power of positive energy and hope which can be our only salvation and inspiration to stay strong and steadfast at this time….

God bless Pakistan…Long live Pakistan!

I am Kashif Iqbal and here is my view on this 14th August...

Let’s remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters at least for one day and lets forever be proud to be a Pakistani!!!
Let us celebrate our Independence and Independence day... So let me Wish you a very Happy Independence day!

I am Farrukh Riyadh and I want to say..

Be Pakistani (Although its difficult but atleast we can try ).... Buy Pakistani (If you get any good made 100% in Pakistan... go get it before it expires )... Love Pakistani (Only Love can remove all differences.... Although this includes lot of unwanted faces... but this is the only thing we can do to make Peace in our Land )

I am Faheem Akram and I want to...

Wish you all a very Happy Independence Day!

Everyone should follow law (not forgetting the in-laws).
Everyone should contribute for the best of society.
Everyone should think out of the box.

And lastly...
Khoon e Dil de K Nekhareen Ge Rukh Barg e Gulab
Hum Ne Gulshan kay Tahafaz ke Qasam Khai Hay

I am Najeeb Ahmed and I want to say...

Love Pakistan OR Leave Pakistan!

I am Samreen Irfan and I want to say...

  • It’s time to come together once again and help our fellowmen through the hardships they are facing due to floods.
  • It’s time to make each other realize that we are there for each other when the whole world is against us .
  • It’s time to rebuild the broken courage, the shattered mind.
  • It’s time to revitalize the true meanings of PAKISTAN
  • It’s time to come together and make Pakistan according to the dreams of QUAID and IQBAL
  • So lets Come together and make it the world’s best place to live in! PAKISTAN PAINDABAD!!!!!

I am Zubia Jamil and I wish...

  • I wish everyone followed traffic signals and gave way to pedestrians on Zebra crossings
  • I wish everyone would remember that water and electricity are really short and does not waste them
  • I wish everyone would dedicate at least 15 minutes of their day to community service
  • I wish everyone would stop judging others on the basis of color, creed or religion.
  • I wish everyone in our society would be more tolerant and accept others with views which are not similar to their own
  • I wish everyone would realize that any help from them in terms of blood, money, education or community service is important and makes a difference
  • I wish everyone would stop throwing trash every where and keep it with themselves and throw it in the dustbins at home.
  • I wish everyone refuses to give or accept bribes
  • I wish everyone would realize that they are not better than anyone else on the basis of Punjabi, Pathan, Sindhi, etc
  • I wish everyone would believe in humanity above all other criterion

Pakistan Floods!

Pakistan is facing one of the worst natural calamities of its history. These are the worst floods in the past 80 years. As per UN estimates almost 1600 people have lost their lives and other approximately 12 millions are the affected. Roads have washed away, bridges are broken and millions are left stranded under the bare sky without any food or supplies. To add to that many diseases specially cholera has broken out among the survivors. The following image search would give you a good idea of devastation and life loss:

Flood in Pakistan

As human beings, and fellow more fortunate countrymen, we have a responsibility to help out. If you have the will, following are the ways in which you can help.

Systems Limited:
The HR is accepting donations and asking for volunteers to send supplies to affected areas of Sind. In case of any query/concerns/recommendations/volunteering please approach your Human Resource Department.

Islamic Relief Fund:
I have personally worked with this NGO, it has been very active in Pakistan.
http://www.islamic-relief.org.uk/Pakistan_Floods.aspx

CHEER:
They have earlier worked for IDPs and have accounts available for every one to see:

Umar Qureshi and a few friends are setting up a non-profit organization called CHEER (Center for Health Education & Economic Relief). They are in the process of registering NPO (currently in process for Canada) and might also register it in Pakistan later on, so that the donors can quote their donations for tax returns as well..

CHEER is preparing to launch a campaign to aid the victims of the floods. Your support is crucial. Give your Zakat or general Charity to CHEER, and we will designate it where its most needed. Please contact Ahmed Nizami – 647 985 5743 (Canada) or Umer Quershi (Pakistan) - Mobile: +923443062789. Or you can email us at ahmed.nizami@gmail.com or m.umer.q@gmail.com

Center for Health, Education & Economic Relief (CHEER) is launching an emergency campaign to aid the more than 400,000 victims of flashfloods and landslides in northwest Pakistan.
Hundreds of homes and thousands of acres of farmland were destroyed in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, uprooting entire communities and isolating victims. Many of them have nowhere to go.

At least 400 people are dead with the toll steadily climbing.
The floods are sweeping away homes and forcing people to make the dangerous trek into the highlands. Landslides are burying entire villages and making it dangerous for people to move.

“There were no boats, so we had to use our beds or inflate tubes to float to safer places. We have not received any help. There is no food and no water,” Ghani Mohammad told reporters in Charsadda, one of the worst-affected districts.

Confusion and desperation are spreading amongst the victims as conditions worsen and supplies dwindle.

CHEER is preparing to launch a campaign to aid the victims of the floods, but your support is crucial. Give your Zakat or general Charity to CHEER, and we will designate it where its most needed. Please contact Ahmed Nizami – 647 985 5743 (Canada) or Umer Quershi (Pakistan) - Mobile: +923443062789.
